I Want the Parisian Die!

Please oh please oh please oh please pick me!  I have to have the Parisian die!

It's another PTI contest - Day 8 - Using a mega-sized something on a card!

So my "mega-sized" something is a rub-on by K&Co as a large focal point.  I rubbed it on a piece of vellum then colored the back of it for a soft color effect.

I used a bunch of products that are new for me.  I'm a bit slow to warm to the latest trends sometimes.

I used a Tim Hotlz embossing folder, a Martha Stewart photo corner punch, and Maya Road hat pins.  The ribbon is Papertrey Lemon Tart.

This one I am going to send to my mom for Mother's Day.  Nothing like being prepared!

Another PTI Contest!

Today's contest is to use a tag or frame on a card.  If you haven't seen Papertrey's Fillable Frames series, you need to!  Love them - easy to use, versatile, and perfect for any occasion.

Here's my card.  I used all PTI products except for the card base (SU's Soft Suede), the flowers (Recollections) and the embossing glitter (PK Glitz).

Is it wrong to just adore my own work?

My cousin's birthday is later this month, so I think I will send this to her.  She has had a hard few months with some personal challenges and this will really brighten her day!

Thanks again PTI for the awesome challenge.  You are getting me to kick it into gear.

PTI's Rocking Color Challenge

Seriously, you must go check out all the great PTI challenges this week.  I just finished the color challenge in hopes of winning a fabulous selection ribbon, paper, and felt!  In case you don't know, Papertrey's paper is very strudy (and the color selection is fab!), and their felt is to die for!  The ribbon is da bomb.

So even though I was initially drawn to the Melon Berry/Terracotta Tile/Kraft/Dark Chocolate combo, I decided to stretch myself and use a combo that was out of the ordinary for me.  I chose to do something in Pure Poppy/Spring Rain/Kraft/Vintage Cream.  Here's the result!
I love it!  Again, this was great way for me to bring out a couple of PTI products that I've been hoarding.

I used Pure Poppy, plus Stampin' Up's Baja Breeze, Very Vanilla, and Sahara Sand cardstock.  This is the first time that I've used the awesome Take Three die.  What in the world have I been waiting for?

I stamped Carnations in the Take Three die windows, embossed with clear powder, and then colored with bleach.  I wanted them to stand out but not be overwhelming.  I used red glitter on the edges of the Pure Poppy cardstock, because, quite frankly, what card can't use a little glitter.  I stamped my sentiment on a thin piece of Sahara Sand to create a banner and added 3 little pearls to anchor it on the end.  The fabulous butterfly is a Prima.  Adore it!

What a fun challenge!  Thanks for looking!

Trying a new challenge!

Have you seen the new PTI Make It Monday challenge?  They've posted a great video on Nichole's blog and given us PTI fans the chance to make a card to win a fabulous prize.  Since this is the first challenge, the prize is a $250 gift certificate.  Are you kidding me?  How awesome would that be to win?????  Pick me!  Pick me!

So here's my take:
I went through every PTI set I own and pulled out all the hello's, hi's, greeting's and threw in a friend or two sentiment for good measure.   At work we call these word collages "wordles" - I don't if that's just a work thing or an industry term.  Whichever, it was cool to create my own.

I used PTI's Spring Moss cardstock, SU's Early Espresso and Very Vanilla cardstock, along with some Martha Stewart chocolate baker's twine.  The olive buttons and small pearls are from SU, as is one of the sentiments (a rub-on; the remainder are stamped).  I just tried to keep it simple.  I love the way it turned out and I plan to send it to one of my coworkers who has terminal cancer.  I think it will brighten her day.

I'm also entering this in this week's Moxie Fab challenge.  Check it out!
It's all about the chocolate!

Yum!

Tuesday Trigger - Valentine's Edition!

Isn't this a beautiful Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger
Love, love, love the colors in this.  I was inspired by the delicate paper in the back of the box.
Here's my take.  I made it to give to my husband for Valentine's Day.
I used some pretty decoupage paper I got at our local bead shop, pleated it, then layered it with twine and 2 interlaced die cut hearts.  On the pink heart, I used Smooch Spritz to add shimmer, although you can't see that in the photo.  I used a new Cuttlebug folder for the edge and used some Smooch Spritz shimmer on that as well.  I added crystals to the embossed edge to highlight the flourishes.

Gray is the New Black Challenge!

Gray is the new Black.  I've known that for a while!  I wear gray all the time so this challenge is right up my alley.  Check out all the great entries over at Moxie Fab World and play along yourself!

Here's my take.
Using a piece of embossed gray cardstock as my base, I used white craft ink to highlight the embossed pattern.   I added a stripe of plum cardstock as a ribbon across the front added a rub-on sentiment and highlighted it with a row of small rhinestones.  For a focal point, I added a grouping of wired paper flowers, letting some of the green wire show and added loops of glitter cut from a floral embellishment.

I had a lot of fun with this challenge.  I hope you are inspired to play along!

Seeing Spots!

Another fabulous Tuesday Trigger by Moxie Fab World.
Wow, those colors really pop against all the white in that room.

Here's my take!
Love the bright colors and the banner, but instead of making a horizontal banner, I decided to go vertical!  Of course I added glitter and bling.

Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger - Winter White

Another fabulous Moxie Fab Trigger Tuesday challenge.  Who doesn't love winter white?  I have been searching for the perfect winter white wool coat this season but haven't found it yet.  I'll keep looking!
One word - fabulous!  The tone on tone, the intricacy of the flowers - it's just sheer perfection.  Here's my interpretation.
Inspired by the tone-on-tone and the flowers, I used off-white cardstock for my base.  I had a piece of taupe cardstock with a swirl pattern on it and I embossed that to use as a textural strip down the side.  I sprayed the embossed piece (heavily) with some Glitter Mist to add bling.
I've never tried the rolled up paper flowers technique so I chose some pretty purples and gave it a whirl (from memory).  Not perfect, but I think a good first try.  I distressed the edges of the flowers a bit, added a pearl for the centers, and used a branch Martha Stewart punch to add a little sprig of green on either side of the flower trio.
I'm pleased with how it turned out.  It's very soft and quiet, which I think captures the essence of winter white.

Awesome challenge!  Thanks for stopping by!
